The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) was set up in 1947. It's major aim is to promote pan-European economic integration. UNECE includes 56 member States in Europe, North America and Asia. However, all interested United Nations member States may participate in the work of UNECE. Over 70 international professional organizations and other non-governmental organizations take part in UNECE activities.

In 2021, DeftEdge led an evaluation of the United Nations Road Traffic Safety Fund (UNRTSF), which is hosted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). Established in April 2018, UNRTSF aims to assist low- and middle-income countries in implementing effective national road safety systems to:
a) Substantially reduce the number of fatalities and injuries from road crashes
b) Minimize economic losses resulting from these crashes.

The evaluation employed a mixed-method, inclusive, and participatory approach, reviewing over 300 documents and conducting virtual field missions, interviews, focus group discussions, and stakeholder surveys. In total, 29 key informant interviewees, 114 survey respondents, and 11 donors participated in the consultation process. The evaluation also observed the Informal Working Group on UNRSF Fundraising meeting in November 2020, attended by 34 participants.
