Dr. Punit Arora is a strategic management expert with over 20 years of experience in strategic positions with government, business, academia and international organizations. He has advised numerous organizations on strategic planning and management and led dozens of strategic evaluations for international organizations such as UNODC, UNCTAD, UNIDO, WHO, UNDG, UNRISD, ILO, UNECE and the European Union in over 70 countries.

Dr. Punit Arora, a former member of the prestigious Indian Civil Service, is a strategic management expert with over 20 years of experience in leadership positions with government, business, academia and international organizations. He has led a significant number of strategic evaluations for international organizations such as the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Development Group (UNDG), United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), International Labor Organization (ILO) and the European Union (EU).

These evaluations have helped commissioning organizations identify critical strategic gaps (e.g., absence of attention to trade-based money laundering), redesigning organizational architecture (e.g., Integrated Internal Security Governance in the Western Balkans), re-envisioning organizational set up (e.g., the role of UNIDO’s field network in light of UN’s SDG agenda) and fine-tuning organizational arrangements to enhance performance (e.g., Portfolio rebalancing for UNCTAD’s Africa and Least Developed Countries Division). He is currently leading the evaluation of the WHO Transformation.

He has also authored concept and guidance notes on issues such as use of big data in evaluations, national evaluation capacity development, and re-envisioning evaluation amidst pandemics and other crises.

Dr. Arora is an associate editor of Business & Society and Journal of Asia Business Studies. He is a citizen of the United States and India.
